We are about to begin the process of selecting individuals to be Conservative Councillor candidates in Queensbury, Brent. The first stage of the process is to complete an application form and then be interviewed by the Approvals Committee to establish whether the individual should be accepted onto the slate of approved candidates.

Please note - this is the process for candidates to stand in Queensbury ward only, as this ward falls into Harrow East.
Selections for the rest of Brent will take place at a later date, run by the Brent associations. Applying for Queensbury does not preclude you from applying to those areas later. They will all follow the same process, and any member of the Party living or working in Brent is eligible to apply to be a candidate across the borough.
To qualify to stand to be a councillor you must:
- Be over the age of 18 (as at Thursday 7 May 2026) AND be a British citizen, Commonwealth citizen, qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained resident status and resident in the UK.
- Be registered to vote in the London Borough of Brent or have lived, worked or owned a property in Brent for at least 12 months before May 2026.
Being a councillor is a significant but worthwhile commitment. Councillors make a huge difference to the quality of life of local people and how local issues are dealt with. They are also the lead representative for the Conservative Party in their nominated ward, with overall responsibility for the promotion of Conservative candidates and messaging in the ward.
If you qualify to apply and would like to know more, please email us at [email protected] - DEADLINE for applications to be completed and returned is Monday 10th February 2025.
